Arise Black Midwife! at The National Black Midwives Alliance Conference in Hampton, VA
Arise Black Midwife! is so excited to be hosting the next commitment ceremony at The National Black Midwives Alliance Conference in March! Arise Black Midwife! is a Pinning Ceremony for Black Student Midwives that spans across all genres of midwifery and across all academic and training programs. Arise Black Midwife seeks to secure the legacy of black midwifery by improving student retention due to lack of connection during the learning experience. The ceremony is an affair where aspiring black midwives commit to their personal journeys while being guided by the altruistic blessings of current Black Midwives. Much like the African American traditions that foster unity through sacred community, the intention of this event is to revive hope and instill vision towards Midwifery as an act of faith. Our collective participation with others leads to a deeper camaraderie that we may not find within our educational institutions. More details coming soon!
