Arise BIPOC Midwife!

The Arise Black Midwife Initiative is launching her sister affair to be inclusive of all people of color.

Founded by Rising Black Midwife Keyawna Scruggs Matthews, Arise BIPOC Midwife is a Pinning Ceremony for BIPOC Student Midwives that spans across all genres of midwifery and across all academic and training programs.

Arise BIPOC Midwife seeks to diversify midwifery with intentionality by improving student retention due to lack of connection during the learning experience. The ceremony is an affair where future BIPOC midwives commit to their personal journeys while being guided by the altruistic blessings of current BIPOC Midwives. Our collective participation with others leads to a deeper camaraderie that we may not find within our educational institutions.

An Informational for the 2026 Cohort will be held on December 1st via Zoom. Students can RSVP at this link https://forms.gle/XxFvLBQzxmr4RQ48A
